Just after the turn of the century, in 1904, the Oris watch factory is founded by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian at Helstein, Switzerland. In 1938 the legendary pointer calendar enters production, marking a milestone in the history of Oris. Since then, the pointer calendar has always been included in the Oris collection.

In 1968 Oris obtained full chronometer certification from the Observatory of Neuchatel. This award for movement cal. 652 is among the highest forms of recognition that exist for accuracy and superior quality.

In 1997 Oris presents the Worldtimer with Oris movement 690. The world`s first watch to feature two analogue time displays incorporates push-button time adjustment. In the same year a limited series of 250 Jules Verne solid-gold watches is launched, fitted with the Worldtimer Chronometer movement. This launches a great tradition of yearly Limited Edition watch that represents "cream de la cream" of the world famous watchmaker.

The Oris BC3 – a completely redesigned pilot’s line within the Big Crown series – is introduced to the market. The Oris XXL line makes a grand entry into the watch world. As the name suggests, this range is characterised by models of impressive dimensions. For the first time, a new collection is brought out in three sizes and three movement varieties. With the Big Crown TT1, Oris adds new momentum to its performance watches. A black rubber top ring on stainless steel is combined with a strap that mirrors the vertical tread pattern of Formula-1 tyres. With Oris Miles, Oris sets a Milestone of cool elegance.

In 2003 Oris signed an agreement to become the exclusive watch partner of the BMW WilliamsF1 Team. The Oris Limited Editon WilliamsF1 Team Chronograph: the most successful Oris watch in 2003. With the Artelier collection, Oris designed an extraordinary watch case appropriate for entirely different types of movements.
